Briar Rose Photography: A Wedding At The Enjoy Centre in St. Albert

The start of a good love story…

We know their story ends with a picture-perfect wedding but let’s return to the beginning of their story. Alex & Braedan met in their final year of high school. Alex was interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement and Braedan was planning for a career in the military. They connected for the first time at a military recruitment event hosted in Vancouver. Braedan was quickly intrigued by Alex and wasted no time in getting her attention. He sat in a seat next to hers. After introducing himself he asked her to be his partner for the day. However, little did he know she would become his partner for life.

Did she say, “Dress like you’re attending a funeral”?

Yes, she did! The theme for their wedding was “dress like you’re attending a funeral” You might chuckle at that but it was so classy and gorgeous that I think they’re on to something. The venue and the guests were all dressed in black. With hundreds of candles, this greenhouse venue was spectacular! February weddings are usually pretty chilly but we had a gorgeous sunny day.

When you know, you know.

Alex was immediately drawn to the Enjoy Center. This venue is essentially one huge greenhouse. As a result, the glass walls and ceilings make for beautiful lighting and the many candles and fairy lights give off the most perfect romantic warm glow. As a result, we got the most flawless wedding day photos.

Something borrowed, something blue, someing old and a shot of tequila!?

There were a lot of special touches incorporated into Alex and Braedan’s wedding. Alex wore her mother’s earnings from her wedding day, and Braedan had cufflinks with the engraved fingerprints of his late brother. Their wedding cake toppers were polaroids that they took earlier in the day and they used photos of their beautiful 2-year-old puppy Ajax as table centrepieces. Still, my favourite special touch was their private vows. They stood back-to-back kitty-cornered by two walls and held hands with each other while they read their vows but they never looked at each other the entire time. It was so romantic and sweet! Afterwards, they shared a shot of tequila and headed off to the ceremony sight unseen.

Finding the right fit.

Alex booked me for her wedding well over a year ago. We had so much fun on our consultation I knew right away we would be a fantastic fit. Their engagement session was filled with laughter from start to finish. It was on our scheduled four-week out call that I was reminded of how in sync we are. I was delighted to find out Alex used my preferred vendor’s list when picking out her beauty team and videographer. Working with such a great team all day made this entire day fly by! I knew that this wedding day was going to be flawless, and it was!
