Hasting Lake Gardens Wedding Venue

Shooting a wedding at Hasting Lake Gardens was always a dream come true for me, and my team. I’ve been a preferred vendor at this incredible venue for several years now and I always get so excited to go back here each wedding season. When Dallas & June contacted me after finding my business on the Hasting Lake Gardens website I couldn’t be happier to be a part of their big day at the special location.

 

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT OUR COUPLE 

Dallas and June are the definition of true love. After 9 years together it was obvious that the honeymoon phase will never end for these two. I get so excited knowing I’m going to work with two people who truly adore each other. A funny story I learned at their reception is that these two shared their first date at her cousin’s house. Talk about pressure, meeting her family on the first date! Clearly, he passed with flying colours as her entire family came together to celebrate their love on this special day.

July summers in Edmonton are always hot but with the amount of smoke in the air on July 15th, 2023 this outdoor wedding had some challenges. Regardless, of the humidity and smoky air you could still see a smile on their faces all day long. Dallas and June create their own little bubble of bliss no matter what’s going on around them you can see them melt into each other again and again.

THE VENUE HASTING LAKE GARDENS 

They picked Hasting Lake Gardens for the same reason that so many of my clients pick this venue. It is simply gorgeous. The venue has no shortage of breathtaking backdrops. It is the most incredible place for wedding day photos. It’s a fairytale princess’ dream come true.

I’m sure if you’re planning a wedding right now you have heard of the newly Tik Tok famous “Dash photos”. I’ve had a few clients think about doing these and Dallas and June totally pulled it off. One table at a time came running outside to take a photo with the bride and groom all within the time frame of one song! It’s pretty intense and so much fun!

The wedding day colours were burgundy red and navy blue with hints of gold. It was a spectacular combination. The girls all wore floor-length burgundy dresses while our groomsmen and our one grooms-women wore blue vests with burgundy ties. The table decor had red roses and highlights of gold throughout it all. Together it transformed the Hastings community hall into a stunning work of art for their reception.

 

SPECIAL MOMENTS AT HASTING LAKE GARDENS 

I loved my connection with Dallas right from the start. A question on my inquiry form asks “Who is your favourite fairytale princess?” and she said Cinderella. You might find it surprising to know I don’t often get Cinderella as an answer. I can’t tell you why that is but it made me smile to see her name there. By the end of our call, I had decided Dallas was my Cinderella bride and with that title, it made her wedding day a special date on my calendar.

ALWAYS END IT ON A HIGH NOTE

I mentioned the idea of doing a sparkler exit after their reception and it was the largest sparkler exit I have ever done. Dallas found these extra-long sparklers and we had almost the entire hall outside for this grand exit. The two of them ran through the sparklers laughing and stopping for a kiss. It was the perfect way to end such a beautiful day at Hasting Lake Gardens.
