Devyn and John first met John on Tinder while they were both attending the University of Alberta. One of John’s pictures was him in Diagon Alley at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Florida. Devyn thought to herself this guy could be a catch or at the very least I’ll get some intel on the world of Harry Potter. They spent their first date at Lions Park in St. Albert. It just so happens that’s also where we went to take their engagement photos last year. Lions Park is also where we took their wedding day photos on July 21st.
Devyn is a PhD student in Clinical Child Psychology and also works for the University as a research assistant and for a private practice part-time. John is a high school band and humanities teacher in the city.
July weddings are always hot in Alberta but this day was incredibly steamy. With that hot summer sun beaming down and not a cloud in the sky it was a sticky kind of heat. We spent the day finding small patches of shade to take incredible photos of Devyn, John and their bridal team. The colours for this wedding were desert rose with hints of green. The girls all wore long floor-length dresses while the groomsmen wore light grey suits. Our bride was absolutely stunning in her Essence of Australia gown from the Bridal Boutique.
The Country Lodge was the location Devyn and John chose for their ceremony and reception. I love this venue because it gives you a beautiful shaded area for an outdoor ceremony that photographs flawlessly. You also have an indoor space in case of rain that is equally as stunning. Of course, with not a cloud in the sky Devyn and John said their “I Do’s” outside with their friends and family. Later in the day, we enjoyed a family-style dinner inside the venue that added the perfect amount of charm to such a wonderful wedding day at the most perfect venue.
