For nearly a year, I’ve been dreaming about this Yukon Ladies Ask project—sketching out ideas, chasing sponsors, and imagining the magic. Now that it’s real, I still find myself tearing up every time I think about it.
This weekend was everything we hoped for and more.
Painting, pizza, puppies, community, girl power, and (of course) photos… literally all of my favourite things rolled into one unforgettable day. 💛
Watching an incredible team of women come together to transform the Humane Society Yukon kennels—with heart, hustle, and a whole lot of love—was nothing short of amazing. I’ll carry every moment and every laugh from this project with me forever.
Jana from Fireweed Fine Finish Painting & Design—you are the real MVP. Yukon’s own painting Mozart and teacher-extraordinaire! You led the team like an absolute boss, turning volunteers into pro-level painters with ease and encouragement. While I documented the magic through Briar Rose Photography, you brought the colour and the confidence. I couldn’t have asked for a better collaborator.
To our incredible sponsors: I’m still in awe. Every single business that stepped up is part of the YLA (Yukon Ladies Ask) Registry, making this our biggest girl-powered project to date. Your generosity turned a dream into a reality—and the dogs? They’re OBSESSED with their fresh new space.
Meet the powerhouse women who made this happen:

And a huge thank-you to Mrs. Shannon from G&P on Main for the catered lunch—fueling our team so we could finish strong!
Inspired Interiors, your donated materials helped bring this vision to life. You were a game-changer. We couldn’t have done it without you.
This wasn’t just a painting day—it was a powerful reminder of what happens when women show up, lift each other up, and pour love into their community.
To every single volunteer: thank you. You came with open hearts and rolled-up sleeves. You made this day shine. Your time, your energy, and your kindness made all the difference—for the shelter pups, for each other, and for our city.
Paint It Furward was more than a makeover.
It was a movement.
A celebration of community, compassion, and the unstoppable power of women coming together for a cause.
From the bottom of my heart—thank you, Yukon Ladies.
Here’s to more projects like this, more tails wagging, and more love shared.
