Our first-ever fundraiser for Pitbull Awareness Month was a heartwarming, resounding success! With an overwhelming response, the event sold out just three hours after we announced it. On October 19th, 20 proud dog moms brought their lovable pups in for mini photo sessions. It is thanks to these dog moms that, we raised $1,000 for the Humane Society Yukon!
To everyone who booked a spot or wanted to join but missed out this time, thank you! Your support means the world, and we’re already planning for the next event. And, of course, an enormous thanks to Carol and the Humane Society Yukon team for their gracious hospitality. Opening your doors to us made this experience so special.
This day wouldn’t have been possible without my fantastic volunteers: Kyla, Bailey, and Kimberly. Kim, the owner of Whitehorse Woof Natural Dog Treats, brought along bandanas for every dog, making their photoshoots extra charming. Kim’s kindness and community spirit are truly inspiring! Other big thanks to Tamara, the visionary behind YuCreate, who continually supports my spontaneous ideas. Just the night before, I sketched a “one-line” drawing of my own pitbulls, Chopper and Willi and Tamara brought it to life with a custom t-shirt, helping me showcase why this fundraiser is so close to my heart.
Lastly, a special shoutout to Tori from CBC Yukon. Her last-minute reach-out to join us brought an extra layer of purpose to the day. She took time to interview some of our dog moms, bringing light to our mission to raise awareness for pitbulls and the Humane Society’s vital role in our community.
It was a fantastic day filled with love, purpose, and community. I can’t wait to show you all the beautiful photos and am already looking forward to our next event! Thank you everyone for being a part of this journey to create positive change—one wagging tail at a time.
