There’s something truly magical about Yukon weddings, and this early August wedding at Mount Sima was no exception. Nestled high above Whitehorse, with breathtaking views across the valley, this wedding at Mount Sima blended adventure, natural beauty, and heartfelt moments perfectly.
The day began with guests taking the ski chair lifts to the top of the hill, offering a unique and unforgettable start to the celebration. At the summit, the couple exchanged vows, with Whitehorse sprawling beneath them and vibrant patches of fireweed adding pink and purple splashes to the landscape. The view was wild and vast, much like the love these two share.
A close friend of the couple officiated the ceremony, making the moment even more personal. There’s something so special about having someone who knows you deeply guide you through such a meaningful occasion. The laughter and quiet tears proved just how heartfelt this moment was.
After the ceremony, guests floated back down the hill on the chairlift, while I stayed behind with the couple for more portraits at the summit. The love between them was effortless and natural, evident in the way they held each other and laughed together.
Once we wrapped up the portraits, I joined the couple on the chairlift for the ride down. It was a quiet moment before the party began, and I captured a few photos of them ahead of me on the lift. This truly was a unique experience only available at a wedding at Mount Sima.
The evening shifted into a lively celebration, with local music from Yukon Jack, whose sound perfectly captured the spirit of the North.
This wedding at Mount Sima is a perfect reminder of why I love capturing love stories in the Yukon. The adventure of taking a chairlift to say your vows at the top of the world is something truly special. It all came together to create a day that was uniquely and beautifully theirs.
