Memories fade, photos last forever.
Let's face it, living in the moment is a fantastic idea. Taking in the sights, the feels, the smells and telling yourself I'll remember this moment forever, sounds great, in theory.
"Memory is the faculty of the brain by which data or information is encoded, stored, and retrieved when needed. It is the retention of information over time for the purpose of influencing future action. "
Our memories change over time. They become less clear to us as newer memories push out the old ones. There's only so much room in the hippocampus, neocortex and the amygdala of our brain!
"The reason why photography is important is that it freezes memories. It captures a moment in time that you'll be able to remember and cherish years from now. If you look at the images that people save, usually it's photos of their family, friends, pets, places, and items they love."
So as you live in the moment take a small part of that time and capture the soon-to-be memory as a present for your future self. Future you will be so thankful you did.
